The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission facilitated the arrests of Beyond Skin Care Ventures owner Chanda P. Atienza and administration and finance manager Venus Eunizel P. Gonda in connection with criminal cases involving alleged unauthorized investment solicitation, investment fraud and syndicated estafa. The officers were arrested upon arriving in the Philippines on September 5 after Malaysian authorities apprehended them. The charges stem from Dermacare’s alleged offering of unregistered franchise partnership investments without the required license or authority. The scheme purportedly promised a guaranteed quarterly return of 12.6% for five years, along with complimentary salon services. The Commission filed criminal complaints against the company and its officers in 2024, and a Philippine court later canceled Atienza’s and Gonda’s passports, leading to an Interpol red notice and their apprehension in Malaysia in August.
