Mexico’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit announced that agreements have been reached to transfer significant parts of CIBanco and Intercam Banco operations, in the context of the temporary interventions initiated on 26 June by the National Banking and Securities Commission. For CIBanco, the chosen option is to transfer its trust (fiduciary) division to Banco Multiva, with the stated aim of ensuring continuity of existing contracts and full protection of trusts and their beneficiaries. For Intercam Grupo Financiero, Kapital Bank will acquire a significant part of its operations, including assets of Intercam Banco and various entities within the group, to support continuity of service for customers and depositors. The Ministry stated that the transactions are intended to protect depositors’ rights and maintain continuity of financial services in line with the Credit Institutions Law. Both transactions remain subject to authorisation by the relevant authorities, which will continue supervising the process to ensure an orderly and transparent transition, with further updates to follow.
