China's National Financial Regulatory Administration convened a seminar with financial regulators from ASEAN and neighboring countries to discuss stronger regional supervisory cooperation on cross-border financial risks and approaches to artificial intelligence in finance. More than 30 representatives from 12 countries and regions attended, alongside the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office. Participants reviewed financial sector developments, emerging risks and supervisory priorities, as well as financial institutions’ experience using AI. They assessed the regional economy and financial system as broadly stable but agreed that new technologies are changing how cross-border risks arise and spread, requiring deeper information sharing and regulatory cooperation. The administration plans to expand cooperation with regional counterparts to strengthen financial resilience and cross-border risk prevention.
