The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has ordered the cessation of insurance intermediation carried out through four websites that it says were offering insurance services without authorisation, and has instructed their blocking. The order covers famiglia-protetta.it, italinsurance.it (including www.italinsurance.it), gwolf.it (including www.gwolf.it), and breve.airoldiassicurazioniarona.it (including www.breve.airoldiassicurazioniarona.it). Blocking by providers operating in Italy is under way and may take a few days for technical reasons. The cessation orders are published in IVASS’s “Difendiamoci dalle truffe” section, and IVASS reports that the total number of sites subject to such orders has reached 254 since it began exercising this blocking power in November 2023. IVASS also reiterates consumer guidance to verify, before paying premiums, that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorised firms and intermediaries, including by checking IVASS’s online lists (RUI and supervised insurers), particularly for temporary motor third-party liability policies.
