The State Bank of Vietnam has published an update noting that Vietnam National Payment Corporation (NAPAS) has introduced Apple Pay for holders of domestic NAPAS cards in Vietnam, enabling in-store, in-app and online payments using Apple devices. In-store payments are made by authenticating on an iPhone or Apple Watch and tapping the device on a contactless terminal, with no PIN required. Transactions are authenticated using Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode and supported by a one-time dynamic security code; Apple Pay can also be used on iPhone, iPad and Mac for app and web purchases without re-entering card and contact details or waiting for a one-time password. NAPAS is rolling out the service with Vietcombank and OCB for domestic NAPAS cards and is working with OnePay, VNPay, Zalo Pay and Ngan Luong to expand acceptance.
