Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, issued a statement calling on Bill Pulte to resign immediately as both director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and Acting Director of National Intelligence. The statement framed the demand around Warren’s concerns about Pulte’s conduct at FHFA and reports that he had begun mass firings of counterintelligence officers after taking the intelligence post. Warren said Pulte had spent the past year at FHFA using the agency to investigate President Donald Trump’s perceived political enemies. She argued that his continued service as Acting Director of National Intelligence raised national security concerns.
