The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) has made two instruments consolidating 17 existing relief instruments covering financial and sustainability reporting and auditing requirements. Following consultation, the measure implements part of ASIC’s regulatory simplification initiative without substantial policy changes, placing the existing relief in a clearer and more consistent framework. The reporting instrument combines 14 instruments concerning annual and half-year reporting obligations for companies, registered schemes, registrable superannuation entities, retail corporate collective investment vehicles and disclosing entities. It removes overlapping relief for stapled entities and makes related technical amendments. The auditing instrument combines three instruments covering audit relief, auditor independence and corporate collective investment vehicle auditors, but does not carry forward paragraph 6(i) of the former audit relief instrument. ASIC will update relevant forms and regulatory guidance to reflect the consolidated framework.
