The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) issued a resolution establishing the registration requirement for associations that, when Complementary Law No. 213/2025 was published, carried out activities related to protection against property, personal or other risks, including mutual aid and similar arrangements. The measure is presented as the first step in regulating Complementary Law No. 213/2025 and requires these associations to amend their bylaws or articles of association and register with SUSEP within 180 days, ending on 15 July 2025. After the deadline, associations that have not registered must cease their property protection activities, subject to applicable administrative and judicial sanctions. Registration will be completed through a dedicated system to be made available on SUSEP’s website in the coming weeks, with operational procedures and the required information and documentation to be published shortly. SUSEP also clarified that registration must be submitted by an administrator with legal authority to represent the association, and that this administrator is distinct from any future management company that associations may need to hire once SUSEP-authorised administrators exist under forthcoming regulation.
