Angola's Ministry of Finance reported on a workshop supporting implementation of the new financial supervision framework for mutual associations and their groupings. The framework places these entities under ARSEG oversight to promote sound management of members’ financial resources and assets, identify risks and strengthen transparency, governance and internal controls without replacing associations’ management or removing their autonomy. Angola has 26 registered mutual associations representing more than 233,000 members, with another seven being established. The framework seeks to balance associational autonomy with financial responsibility and sustainability, helping associations meet the social security and health benefits set out in their statutes, regulations or contracts.
