Angola's Ministry of Finance has outlined the Ondjila Green initiative to establish a national charging system for electric buses and other electric vehicles. Vehicles will enter service gradually as the charging network expands and the technical and operational infrastructure needed for deployment is prepared, including workshops, maintenance systems and operating procedures. The Angola Sovereign Wealth Fund will support the mobilization of concessional financing from multilateral and development finance institutions and help structure partnerships and financial instruments. The Ministry of Transport will set priorities and the implementation timetable, coordinate relevant public bodies and supervise the program. OPAIA Motors will produce the vehicles and install, operate and maintain the charging network, with plans to maximize domestic participation, technology transfer, vocational training and Angolan technical capabilities. The network is intended to support electric vehicle use beyond selected urban areas and create opportunities for charging installation, operation, maintenance and management services.
