Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority meets NMB Bank CEO to discuss expanding bancassurance

The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority reported that Tanzania’s Insurance Commissioner, Dr Baghayo Saqware, visited NMB Bank’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam and held discussions with Chief Executive Officer Ruth Zaipuna on developing the insurance sector, with a particular focus on bancassurance. The Commissioner highlighted opportunities for bank insurance agents to expand insurance business through new services and encouraged NMB to conduct regular research to identify areas for improvement. He also commended NMB’s strategy to promote insurance uptake, including special campaigns. NMB, represented in the meeting by Zaipuna and Agency Banking Chief Martine Massawe, thanked the Authority for cooperation and oversight and called for continued support in maintaining a conducive operating environment for bancassurance, while noting the bank’s investment in public education and outreach.
