The National Bank of Moldova announced the appointment of Petru Rotaru as first deputy governor, alongside roles as deputy chair of the bank’s Supervisory Council and deputy chair of its Executive Committee, under Parliament Decision No. 7. Rotaru has more than 19 years of experience across the economic and public sectors and has served as vice governor and a member of the Executive Committee since July 2024. His previous roles include Minister of Finance (2023–2024), Director of the State Tax Service (2023) and a member of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (2016–2023), following earlier accounting and administrative positions. He holds an economics degree and a master’s degree in law specialising in financial and fiscal law from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.
