In a statement marking the Democratic Republic of the Congo's 66th anniversary of independence, the Congo Insurance Regulation and Control Authority issued a ceremonial message to state institutions, the armed forces and the public. The statement did not announce a new regulatory measure, but it linked insurance-sector advances to the government's reform agenda and highlighted the authority's work on parametric agricultural insurance and microinsurance. The authority said the development of parametric agricultural insurance, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the National Agricultural Development Programme, is intended to help secure and sustain agricultural entrepreneurs. It added that this approach, together with microinsurance, supports the formalization of microentrepreneurs, financial inclusion and protection of policyholders and insurance beneficiaries as sector reform continues.
