The Central Bank of the Philippines and the Philippine Economic Society launched a nationwide knowledge-sharing series with an inaugural Manila forum on labor markets and inflation. Aimed primarily at senior high school and college students, the initiative seeks to strengthen economic literacy and encourage study and careers in economics, mathematics, statistics, data science, public policy, economic research and central banking. The forum examined artificial intelligence automation and its effects on wages and jobs, the relationship between minimum wages and inflation, and how minimum wages are determined in practice. Further events will be held in regions across the Philippines.
