The Central Bank of Latvia has announced the winners of its 24th Competition of Student Scientific Research Papers at an award ceremony held at the bank. First prize went to Jiahao Zhu of the University of Tartu for a paper on how green transition affects Estonian firms’ performance. Second prize was awarded to Laura Leimane and Kārlis Kauliņš of SSE Riga for research on peg deviations and run risk in the three largest USD-based stablecoins. Three papers received third prize, covering endogenous credit cycles and macroeconomic stability, investor protection and risk pricing in the Baltic corporate bond market, and public debt sustainability and fiscal space in European Union countries. The competition was organised in the 2025/2026 academic year for bachelor’s and master’s students from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, as well as Baltic residents studying abroad. A total of 48 papers were submitted from 13 higher education institutions in Latvia and abroad. Honourable mentions were also awarded, and the winning authors received monetary prizes.
