The Australian Financial Complaints Authority has reminded digital asset businesses that many of them must become members by September 30, 2026, under requirements set out in the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s Information Sheet 225. Membership gives consumers access to free and independent external dispute resolution for complaints involving participating providers. The scope includes businesses dealing with digital assets such as stablecoins, non-fungible tokens, wrapped tokens, tokenized securities and digital asset wallets. AFCA has received more than 1,000 digital asset-related complaints over the past six years and will use that experience to support new and existing members.
