The Thailand Securities & Exchange Commission has opened a public consultation on proposed amendments to its rules for refresher courses for investment analysts, aiming to make the renewal process more aligned with analysts’ roles and responsibilities. The SEC expects the amendments to take effect from 1 July 2025. The proposal would introduce a minimum number of training hours for refresher courses, and designate the Stock Exchange of Thailand as a SEC-recognised central agency to set the scope of knowledge and training standards and approve refresher courses for investment analyst licence renewal to support common industry standards. Transitional provisions would cover investment analysts who began training under the current criteria, and those who missed renewal and seek re-approval, including completing a full course. The consultation runs until 10 May 2025.
