The Portuguese Securities Commission (CMVM) announced it will host a seminar titled “DLT applied to Capital Markets” on 23 March 2026 from 14:00 to 17:00, focusing on the legal, regulatory and market implications of integrating distributed ledger technology (DLT) into capital markets. The programme draws on papers selected following an October 2025 call for abstracts and is organised around two panels. “Revisiting Financial Intermediation in light of DLT” will cover changes in intermediation models, digital platforms and DLT’s potential as infrastructure for securities registration, while “Challenges in the integration of DLT into Capital Markets” will address DLT market infrastructures, implications for supervision and regulation, and the legal robustness of tokenisation as a means of representing transferable securities. The opening address will be delivered by Management Board Chair Luís Laginha de Sousa, with closing remarks by Vice-Chair Inês Drumond; the seminar will be conducted in English and registration is available via the published programme and form.
