The Bank of Albania hosted the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s launch of its Transition Report 2025–2026, with Governor Gent Sejko framing the report as a key reference for economic analysis and policy discussions in 2026. The report’s central theme is demographic change and its implications for economies and societies. Sejko linked the report’s findings to Albania’s own outlook, citing population ageing and emigration as long-identified challenges and arguing that emigration is increasingly a structural issue amid low unemployment and labour shortages in key sectors. He pointed to improved labour market conditions and higher labour productivity than before the global financial crisis, alongside low inflation, steady growth, rising employment and wages, and an improving current account, and highlighted the role of monetary policy in maintaining price stability. EBRD representatives presented the report and Western Balkans assessments, followed by a Q&A with the audience and media.
