The Bahamas Ministry of Finance published an account of remarks by JoBeth Coleby-Davis, minister of energy, utilities and aviation, at the 10th Caribbean Infrastructure Forum. She outlined the government’s strategy to expand resilient energy, water and aviation infrastructure while attracting private investment through power purchase agreements, independent power producer structures and public-private partnerships. Energy projects include an Abaco facility with about 13 MW of solar generation, 30 MW of liquefied natural gas generation and 15 MWh of battery storage. Its solar component is expected to begin supplying the grid in November 2026. New Providence’s program comprises about 70 MW of solar generation and 35 MW of battery storage, alongside grid modernization. The government reported approximately $40 million in fuel savings in 2024 and projects annual savings of about $125.6 million by the end of 2026. Airport development is also continuing at more than 10 sites following the commissioning of Mayaguana’s new terminal in February 2026.
