The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) published the final statement from its 40th Plenary meeting in Amman, reporting the adoption of multiple member-country follow-up reports and consideration of updates on efforts to strengthen anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) frameworks. The Plenary also adopted self-reports from countries where security conditions prevented onsite visits, discussed mechanisms to qualify and provide experts for mutual evaluations and follow-ups, reviewed typologies work including money laundering and terrorist financing through legal entities and legal arrangements, and approved a methodology for a regional assessment of money laundering and terrorist financing risks. Work progressed on a guidance document on implementing targeted financial sanctions and combating sanctions evasion, the MENAFATF e-learning platform was further developed with new courses, and the report on MENAFATF working groups, committees and forums was reviewed and adopted.
