The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority has released its Life Insurance Claims and Disputes Statistics covering the 12-month period from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025. The publication sets out industry-level and insurer-level claims and disputes outcomes for 13 Australian life insurers writing direct business, excluding reinsurance. The latest data has also been incorporated into the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s MoneySmart life insurance claims comparison tool, which compares insurers across cover types and distribution channels using four metrics: the percentage of claims accepted, the time taken to pay claims, the number of disputes, and policy cancellation rates. APRA publishes the statistics on a biannual basis, has also released a database covering June 2018 to December 2025, and lists the next release as October 2026 for the June 2026 edition.
