The Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) issued a clarification rejecting media claims that the Development Bank of Montenegro is stuck in an administrative stalemate between the Ministry of Finance and the CBCG and that it cannot open a payment account with the central bank. The CBCG said the Development Bank has not submitted a request to open an account in the domestic payment system operated by the CBCG, meaning the central bank could not act on an application that was never filed. It added that there is no dispute or administrative stalemate with the Ministry of Finance on this issue, that its actions follow the law and the same procedures applied to all payment system participants, and that it remains available to provide technical and regulatory support.
