The Hong Kong Monetary Authority published a notice relaying a Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited warning about a fraudulent website, hkicl.lat, that impersonates HKICL as “Buyer Online Protection” for Faster Payment System transactions. The site claims to offer buyer refunds, reporting of unauthorised online transactions and online transaction support. HKICL said the website has no affiliation with it or its business. HKICL said it does not directly provide FPS services to individual members of the public or usually contact them proactively. It identified its genuine websites as https://www.hkicl.com.hk and https://fps.hkicl.com.hk, and urged the public to remain alert to suspicious calls, websites and other communications, protect personal information, verify suspected HKICL communications through its general line, and report suspected fraud to the Police.
