The Central Bank of Cyprus published monetary financial institution data for August 2026 showing net increases of EUR 171.5 million in total deposits and EUR 114.6 million in total loans. Deposit growth slowed from EUR 562.3 million in July, while lending reversed a EUR 68.7 million decline. Annual growth accelerated to 6.5% for deposits and 11.8% for loans, with outstanding balances reaching EUR 59.3 billion and EUR 28.5 billion, respectively. Deposits from Cyprus residents increased by EUR 175.3 million, driven by EUR 60.2 million from nonfinancial corporations and EUR 117 million from other domestic sectors, while household deposits fell by EUR 1.9 million. Loans to residents rose by EUR 36.5 million, including increases of EUR 12.6 million to households and EUR 32.4 million to nonfinancial corporations, partly offset by an EUR 8.5 million decline across other domestic sectors. Net changes represent transactions and exclude reclassifications, exchange rate movements and other adjustments.
