The Ghana National Insurance Commission announced it will host the inaugural Africa Sustainable Insurance Summit in Accra during 2–4 April 2025, in partnership with the Secretariat of the Nairobi Declaration on Sustainable Insurance. The summit, themed “Building a new sustainability culture for Africa’s insurance markets”, is positioned as a pan-African platform for engagement on sustainable insurance practices. The programme at the Movenpick Hotel includes leadership and working group meetings for NDSI members, keynote and panel sessions, and multiple breakouts covering Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) roadmap development, ESG reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards, sustainable investments, ESG taxonomy discussions for Africa and Ghana, innovation for sustainable insurance, and underwriting approaches to agricultural, disaster and renewable energy risks, alongside side events and product presentations. Ghana’s Insurance Commissioner, Dr. Abiba Zakariah, is scheduled to welcome participants, with opening remarks by NDSI Chairman Phillip Lopokoyit and a keynote address by Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson; more than 200 participants are expected.
