The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve Board and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency released the 2026 list of distressed or underserved nonmetropolitan middle-income geographies where certain bank activities can receive Community Reinvestment Act credit. The list identifies areas in which revitalization or stabilization activities are eligible for CRA consideration under the community development definition. The designations reflect local economic conditions, including unemployment, poverty and population changes. CRA consideration for qualifying activities in the listed geographies will remain available for 12 months after publication of the current list. Geographies that appeared on the 2025 list but are no longer designated in 2026 will continue to benefit from a one-year lag period, consistent with past practice.
