The National Bank of Moldova released preliminary international accounts data indicating that Moldova’s gross external debt rose by 10.5% in the first half of 2025, reaching USD 11,408.70 million as of 30 June 2025. This corresponds to 60.6% of GDP, up 3.9 percentage points compared with 31 December 2024. Public external debt accounted for 42.0% of the total and stood at USD 4,794.34 million, an 11.1% increase from the end of the previous year. Private external debt represented 58.0% of the total and reached USD 6,614.36 million, up 10.1% over the same comparison period.
