The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Jason Burt, Deputy Director for Specialized Units in the Division of Enforcement, will depart the agency on May 1, 2026 after more than 22 years of public service. In his current role, Burt has overseen enforcement investigations and litigation across the Asset Management, Complex Financial Instruments, Cyber and Emerging Technologies, Market Abuse, and Public Finance Abuse units. Appointed to the specialized units deputy director post in April 2025, he also supervised the Office of the Whistleblower and the Commission’s Cross-Border Task Force. Earlier, Burt served as Regional Director of the Denver Regional Office from October 2022 to April 2025, overseeing more than 125 staff and leading the SEC’s examination and enforcement programs for Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming, following prior leadership roles in the Division of Enforcement.

Burt has overseen enforcement investigations and litigation across multiple specialized units, supervised the Office of the Whistleblower and the Cross-Border Task Force, and previously served as Regional Director of the Denver Regional Office overseeing examination and enforcement programs across eight states.
