Bank Negara Malaysia, as co-chair of the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3) SME Focus Group, hosted the first SFG Climate Conference for SMEs, positioning it as a practical forum to help small and medium-sized enterprises understand climate-related risks, apply sustainability tools, and access ecosystem support for transition. Held on 17 November 2025 in Kuala Lumpur with more than 400 participants, the conference aimed to connect SMEs with solution providers, financiers, certification bodies and digital enablers. It highlighted practical resources including the ESG Jumpstart Portal, Relief and Adaptation Facility, JC3 Climate Data Catalogue, Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide and greenhouse gas emissions calculator, and an SME Loss Prevention Framework, alongside panels and deep-dive sessions on sector challenges, energy efficiency and green certifications. Bank Negara Malaysia’s Assistant Governor Madelena Mohamed underscored the growing importance of environmental, social and governance standards in supply chains and urged financial institutions to provide capacity-building advisory support and financing access to SMEs.
