South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance convened trade experts to assess how political and policy changes in major economies could affect the global trade environment and South Korean businesses. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Lee Hyoung-il called for preparations across multiple scenarios as protectionism and trade barriers continue to create uncertainty. Participants examined potential effects on tariffs, industrial policies and external economic relations, as well as implications for companies’ exports and investment. The government plans to monitor policy developments, coordinate across ministries and communicate with foreign counterparts, while pursuing export market diversification and expanded economic cooperation with major economies.
