The Italian Securities Commission (Consob) has released a short educational video explaining the Ponzi scheme and warning retail savers about modern variants that spread through social media, the web and smartphones. The two-minute video recalls the original Charles Ponzi fraud and highlights common red flags, including offers that promise easy, risk-free returns and rapid “stratospheric” gains, often promoted without authorisation and therefore abusively. Consob also directs savers to the “Occhio alle truffe!” section on its website, which includes an investor protection vademecum.
