The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, has developed revised terms for the personal accident insurance policy for Egyptians working abroad and their families. Effective from July 2025, the policy remains optional and increases the coverage limit for death and total permanent disability to EGP 250,000 from EGP 100,000, while expanding eligibility for the first time to all Egyptians working abroad and their families, including those without work permits. The Egyptian Pool for Travel Insurance Abroad will administer the policy. Under the approved text published in the Egyptian Gazette, expatriates and their families without work permits can subscribe via the pool’s website, mobile app or WhatsApp. For natural death, the pool covers the actual cost of preparing and transporting the body up to EGP 250,000, or pays an equivalent amount where burial takes place abroad; for death by accident, it covers repatriation costs within one year of the accident and distributes any remaining amount to legal heirs based on inheritance documentation. Coverage applies where the insured is aged at least 18 and no more than 70 at the time of the accident.
