The Bank of Greece reported that banks kept credit standards unchanged in the second quarter of 2026 for loans to non-financial corporations and for household housing and consumer credit. Overall lending terms and conditions for corporate loans were also unchanged, and demand was broadly flat across corporate, housing and consumer lending. The main exception was housing loans, where terms and conditions changed somewhat because of adjustments in non-interest-rate lending terms. For non-financial corporations, overall loan demand was unchanged despite stronger demand from small and medium-sized enterprises, mainly to finance fixed asset investment. The share of rejected corporate loan applications was unchanged. For households, demand for housing and consumer loans remained almost unchanged. The share of rejected housing loan applications was almost unchanged, while it was unchanged for consumer credit. Banks expect credit standards to remain unchanged in the third quarter of 2026 for both corporate and household lending. Demand from non-financial corporations is expected to remain almost unchanged, while demand for housing and consumer loans is expected to remain unchanged.
