The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) Western Zone in Tabora participated in the launch of the first phase of the Universal Health Insurance scheme alongside the distribution of health insurance cards to special groups in Nzega District. The rollout handed cards to eligible groups including older people, people with special needs, and low-income citizens, enabling immediate access to treatment at registered health facilities. At the event, TIRA indicated it will continue supervising the insurance system and conducting public education to increase awareness and participation in formal health insurance, and committed to continued collaboration with stakeholders to encourage enrolment in the scheme.
