The Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism has launched a public consultation on common templates intended to harmonise how suspicions and transaction records are reported across the European Union. The initiative aims to replace fragmented national approaches with a consistent set of data points, while allowing for sector-specific tailoring. Under the approach outlined by AMLA, businesses and professionals subject to anti-money laundering rules would report using a harmonised EU framework for the first time, completing only the data points relevant to their activity and the type of suspicion being reported. For firms operating across borders, this is intended to provide clearer and more consistent reporting expectations. For Financial Intelligence Units, the change is designed to produce more structured and comparable information that can be processed and exchanged more quickly. AMLA is seeking input from financial and non-financial sector stakeholders, national competent authorities, and EU and international organisations. A public hearing is scheduled for 9 September 2026 from 10:00 to 12:00 CEST.
