The Central Bank of Latvia reported that customers made 477.4 million noncash payments worth EUR 597.1 billion through Latvian payment service providers in the first half of 2026. Payment volume rose 6% and value increased 2% from the first half of 2025, averaging 2.6 million transactions worth EUR 3.3 billion per day. Card payments remained the most common method, accounting for 59% of transaction volume, while customer credit transfers represented 36%. Excluding intrabank transactions, credit transfers increased 9% by volume and 12% by value to 58 million payments worth EUR 85 billion. Instant payments accounted for more than one-quarter of all customer credit transfers.
