The Central Bank of Jordan, through its Financial and Banking Sector Cyber Incident Response Team (Jo-FinCERT), held its first interactive practical exercise with Immersive Labs to simulate cyberattacks on Jordanian financial institutions and assess the sector’s readiness to respond. The exercise used scenarios involving advanced attacks, including malware and penetration of critical systems, to test institutions’ speed of response and the quality of coordination with regulatory authorities. The Central Bank positioned the simulations as a way to identify operational gaps, strengthen preparedness for targeted attacks on digital banking services, and build sector-wide cyber incident management capability. The Central Bank plans to run a series of exercises during 2025, with more frequent simulations and dedicated assessments of sector institutions aimed at better aligning cyber legislation with practical procedures.
