The National Bank of Moldova published March 2025 statistics on newly attracted time deposits, showing MDL 4,060.8 million of new term deposits, down 11.4% from February. Leu-denominated deposits accounted for 73.6% of the total and fell 14.5% to MDL 2,986.8 million, while foreign-currency deposits decreased 1.7% to MDL 1,074.0 million. The average nominal rate on new leu deposits rose 0.47 percentage points to 4.57%, while the average rate on foreign-currency deposits fell 0.22 percentage points to 1.27%. By maturity, deposits with terms of 2–5 years represented 45.8% of new time deposits and those of 6–12 months 22.4%. Household deposits totalled MDL 3,067.1 million, down 11.2% month on month, with 2–5 year terms (39.7%) and 6–12 months (27.8%) most used. Their average leu rate increased to 4.70% and the foreign-currency rate decreased to 1.18%, while year on year household deposits grew 63.6% in leu and 13.6% in foreign currency. For legal persons, leu deposits fell 22.7% to MDL 719.4 million and foreign-currency deposits rose 48.1% to MDL 268.8 million, with average rates moving to 4.15% in leu and 1.54% in foreign currency, and year-on-year increases of 59.8% in leu and 2.6 times in foreign currency.
