The Bank of Korea’s preliminary national accounts confirmed that real gross domestic product grew 0.6% quarter on quarter in the second quarter of 2026, matching the advance estimate, and increased 3.7% from a year earlier. Real gross national income rose 3.1% on the quarter as improved terms of trade increased real trading gains, despite lower real net factor income from abroad. Manufacturing expanded 1.4%, led by computer, electronic and optical products, while services grew 1.0%. Exports increased 1.3%, private consumption rose 0.4% and intellectual property investment gained 3.4%, while construction declined 1.9%. Nominal GDP increased 9.2% quarter on quarter, and the GDP deflator rose 21.9% year on year. The gross saving ratio climbed 3.9 percentage points to 45.6%, while the gross domestic investment ratio fell 1.1 percentage points to 24.2%.
