The Hellenic Capital Market Commission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Advertising Self-Regulation Council to establish systematic cooperation aimed at protecting investors from misleading or unfair commercial practices and improving the transparency and reliability of capital markets advertising, with a particular focus on the digital environment. The cooperation framework covers joint public information and education initiatives, joint events and actions to exchange good practices, and exploration of specific ethical rules for commercial communications and advertising messages related to financial and investment products. A central area of emphasis is influencer marketing, including “finfluencers”, with the stated aim of preventing and addressing misleading practices through both capital market supervision and the advertising market’s self-regulatory framework. The Memorandum of Understanding runs for five years.
