The Central Bank of Paraguay, through the BCP Institute and with support from the Inter-American Development Bank, hosted its sixth Economics Conference, bringing together national and international experts to discuss monetary policy, global macroeconomics, financial stability and emerging economic challenges. Research presentations examined the macroeconomic effects of U.S. import tariff shocks, political pressure on the Federal Reserve and optimal monetary policy under state-dependent pricing. Other sessions addressed how competition can support development and the nonlinear effects of El Niño on financial stability in Paraguay. The conference also showcased the winners of a research poster competition.
