The Jamaica Financial Services Commission (FSC) hosted the Chief Executive Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Securities Commission (TTSEC) for discussions aimed at strengthening regional collaboration in securities regulation and capital markets development, including exploring avenues to harmonise regulatory approaches and foster greater market integration across the Caribbean. The meeting brought together FSC Executive Director Lieutenant Colonel Keron Burrell and TTSEC CEO Kester Guy and covered shared priorities such as policy development and standard setting, the FSC’s plans to build regional capacity during its tenure as Chair of the Caribbean Group of Securities Regulators (CGSR), and updates on Jamaica’s transition to the Twin Peaks regulatory model focused on market conduct and consumer protection. Discussions also included Jamaica’s legislative framework for Virtual Asset Services Providers (VASPs) and the provision of technical guidance to support Trinidad and Tobago in developing its VASP framework. The FSC also indicated it is planning the next CGSR annual meeting scheduled for July 2025; the FSC chairs the CGSR for 2024–2026.
