The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has ordered the blocking of two websites for unlawfully offering insurance services: www.assi.assicurazioniautopiufaciledicosi.it (including the non-www domain) and consulenze.b-brokersrl.it. The blocking is being carried out by internet service providers operating in Italy and may take a few days to become effective for technical reasons. IVASS said the action brings the number of abusive websites blocked since it began exercising its website-blocking power in November 2023 to 342, and it reiterated consumer warnings to be cautious of policy offers initiated via instant messaging (including WhatsApp) or phone texts and of requests for payment via prepaid credit cards, and to check counterparties against IVASS’s official lists of supervised insurers and authorised intermediaries.
