The Bank of Korea reported that the preliminary Producer Price Index rose 0.2% month on month in August 2026, reversing a 0.4% decline in July. Producer prices were 7.9% higher year on year, up from 7.7% in July. Agricultural, forestry and marine product prices increased 3.8% from July, while electric power, gas, water and waste prices rose 0.9%. Manufacturing product and services prices were unchanged overall, although semiconductor prices rose 1.4% and financial and insurance activity prices fell 1.5%. The Domestic Supply Price Index declined 1.3% month on month as prices fell across raw materials, intermediate goods and services, and final goods and services, but remained 8.6% higher year on year. The Total Output Price Index fell 1.2% from July, driven by a 2% drop in manufacturing product prices, while recording a 15.2% annual increase. The indexes are preliminary and may be revised next month.
