The Reserve Bank of Australia has appointed Rachael Phelan as chief risk officer, responsible for leading its Risk function and delivering the bank’s risk strategy. She will take up the role on Jan. 18, 2027. Phelan has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across risk, strategy, operations and transformation in Australia and internationally. Her recent roles at National Australia Bank included chief operating officer for its Business and Private Bank and chief risk officer at the Personal Bank and uBank.
