Indonesia's Ministry of Finance published remarks by Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung calling on Indonesia to use its demographic dividend over approximately the next 15 years to accelerate growth and reach high income status. Speaking at the Prasasti Indonesia Policy Forum, Agung said the large workforce, technology connected younger generation and domestic market will produce economic gains only if Indonesia improves skills, health, productivity and access to productive employment. Agung urged Indonesia to reduce its reliance on low value added activity by strengthening industry, downstream processing, digitalization and innovation. He called for closer links among education, research, technology and business to support more complex production, develop higher value products and deepen Indonesia's role in global value chains. Achieving that transition will require aligned and consistently implemented policies across the government, private sector and financial sector.
