The Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency (SIPEN) published guidance for relatives of citizens who died in the Jet Set tragedy, directing them to seek orientation on any benefits they may be entitled to under the Dominican Pension System and providing an online tool to check which pension fund administrator (AFP) the deceased was affiliated with. Where a deceased affiliate was covered by disability and survivorship insurance, the legal beneficiaries (spouse or life partner and children within the regulated age) are entitled to a survivor pension. If the regulatory conditions for a survivor pension are not met, the heirs can access payment of the accumulated balance in the deceased’s individual account as an inheritance, and SIPEN states that no intermediaries are required for this process.
