The Securities and Exchange Board of India has aligned its Cyber Incident Reporting Portal with the Financial Stability Board’s Format for Incident Reporting Exchange framework. Securities market regulated entities must use the portal to report incidents through common information fields, standardized definitions and consistent classifications designed to harmonize reporting across sectors and jurisdictions. The portal supports staged reporting throughout an incident’s life cycle, from the initial report through intermediate updates and final closure, recognizing that complete information may not be available at the outset. This operates alongside existing requirements to report cyber incidents by email within six hours and through the portal within 24 hours. Regulated entities must establish the systems needed to implement the circular and make any necessary changes to relevant bylaws, rules and regulations.
