The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) aimed at supporting the development of Tanzania’s financial sector, including expanding access to capital market funding for insurance companies. The agreement focuses on four cooperation areas: joint training, improving public understanding of financial products, promoting capital markets, and strengthening financial inclusion. TIRA highlighted that the partnership is intended to help insurers raise capital through the capital markets, including by issuing bonds and offering shares to the public, while DSE emphasised coordinated public education on insurance and investment products and broader participation in formal financial services.
